On International Women’s Day, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank the women who work here at ARAUCO for the many ways you contribute to our organization.
Your knowledge, dedication, and commitment show up in countless ways, through leadership, collaboration, innovation, and the care you bring to your teams, your work, and our communities.
Whether on the plant floor or in our offices across North America, your efforts play an essential role in keeping our operations safe and moving forward. Your contributions help shape our culture and strengthen ARAUCO as a place where people belong and purpose matters.
Thank you for the impact you make—not just today, but every day.

Q: To start, could you share a bit about your career journey and what led you to your current role?
I studied Computer Science in Colombia and have always built my career around enterprise applications. I joined Arauco in 2001, where I began my SAP journey. At the time, there was no IT presence in the U.S., so I became the liaison between U.S. business users and the IT team in Chile. That role gave me broad exposure to multiple areas of the business—including Logistics, Inventory Management, Sales, Finance, and Purchasing—and allowed me to contribute to several key projects.
In 2008, I transitioned into SAP consulting, where I spent seven years working across different industries. That experience allowed me to expand my technical and functional expertise and gave me valuable insight into how other organizations operate.
I returned to Arauco in 2015 to help build the North American IT team and support the Domestic SAP implementation. Throughout my career, I’ve remained interested in supporting and improving business applications.
Q: What originally drew you to technology and applications management?
The opportunity to solve problems and create a positive impact on a company. I like that it is not just about systems but also understanding processes and collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver solutions.
Q: What are the primary responsibilities your team focuses on day to day
Our primary responsibility is to ensure that the SAP system remains stable, reliable, and operational to support the business. This includes resolving incidents quickly to minimize disruptions, as well as continuously improving the system through enhancements and project initiatives that align with evolving business needs.
Q: How do your applications support the broader business across departments?
SAP is an integrated system that supports our business end-to-end. It connects key functions like Sales, Purchasing, Inventory Management, Finance, and Logistics, enabling information to flow across departments. This integration ensures data accuracy and efficiency based on real-time information.
Q: What’s your approach to leading and developing a diverse, global team?
I value open, consistent communication, which is essential when leading a diverse, global team. Even though we’re in different locations, we connect virtually almost every day to stay aligned and maintain strong collaboration. Transparency and knowledge sharing are priorities in the team. While each team member has their own area of expertise, cross-training and supporting one another are essential to our success.
Q: How do you foster continuous learning within your group?
Because our team is small, we promote continuous learning through cross-training and collaboration. Gaining experience beyond their main areas of expertise helps team members build new skills and stay motivated.
Q: How do you empower your direct reports to take ownership and lead initiatives?
Assigning a lead for each business area has been the best way to give team members ownership. They become the primary point of contact for the business, which allows them to gain deeper knowledge as they interact with users on a daily basis.
Q: What motivates you most in your work?
I’m motivated to know our team makes a real difference for the business and by the privilege of working with such capable and supportive colleagues.
Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to grow a career in IT or applications management?
Maintain open communication with both your team and business users. Building strong relationships and understanding their needs is key to growing a successful career in Applications management.
Q: Outside of work, what’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I enjoy baking and hiking. Not sure if that is a surprise, but I enjoy both 😊
Q: Is there anything you’d like employees to better understand about the work your team does?
I keep emphasizing communication and strong relationships because they help our team work more efficiently and deliver better solutions. By sharing your priorities and detailed requirements with us, we can provide exactly what you need.
